Job summary

4 Horn Trench & Shoring is seeking a Yard Technician II to ensure equipment is ready for rent and the yard is organized for maximum efficiency. This role involves driving non-DOT company vehicles to client locations and requires a valid state license, basic math skills, and strong safety practices.

You will load and unload trucks, transport equipment, and maintain tools and the yard, working outdoors in all weather. A High School degree is preferred, with forklift experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license with a reasonably clean driving record.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to perform basic math and follow verbal/written instructions.
• Must be able to drive non-DOT company vehicles to clients.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks, ensuring safe weight distribution and proper tie-downs.
• Transport non-DOT equipment between locations.
• Prepare equipment for rent and organize tools and gear.
• Keep work area clean and organized; maintain equipment in good working order.
• Note any physical damage on freight documents and report to management.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Yard Technician II ensures that all equipment is ready for rent and the yard is organized to maximize efficiency.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Must have a valid state driver’s license with a moderately clean driving record.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language.
• Ability to take verbal and written instructions and perform the tasks necessary for the job.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment.
• This position will require driving Non-DOT company vehicles to and from our clients.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & SKILLS

• High School degree or equivalent is preferred.
• 1 year of Forklift experience is preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Load and unload trucks. This includes the safe distribution of weight and proper and legal tie down of all loads.
• Transports non-DOT equipment
• Prepare equipment for rent.
• Organize and put equipment and tools in proper place.
• Keep the area of responsibility clean and organized.
• Keep forklift, pallet jack, and pressure washer in good working order.
• Responsible for matching loaded and unloaded equipment with delivery tickets or other freight documents.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Notes any physical damage to equipment received on freight document.
• Works outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Management.
