Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Yard Technician in Lakeland, FL to keep our yard clean and organized while learning the equipment rental business. You will load/unload, verify tickets, and stage gear for drivers, gaining hands-on experience and safety expertise as you progress through opportunities within the company.

The role emphasizes customer service, equipment safety checks, and teamwork, with a path to Driver, Mechanic, or Sales/Operations roles as you grow.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Ability to input information into computer systems.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to safely drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including stretching, turning, twisting, and reaching overhead.
• Ability to bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload internal truck drivers, outside haulers and customers.
• Verify delivery tickets and returns for accuracy.
• Clean, maintain, and organize heavy equipment, construction equipment and machinery.
• Review orders and stage equipment for drivers.
• Perform routine checks on rental equipment to ensure it is safe and in good working order.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard and work area.
• Answer and resolve customer questions.
• Provide customers with expert advice on the selection, operation and maintenance of all equipment.
• Support all team members.
