Job summary

Herc Rentals in Virginia Beach is seeking a Yard Technician to keep our facilities clean and professional by maintaining equipment and organizing the yard.

You will load/unload for drivers, verify tickets, perform safety checks, and assist customers with equipment selection and operation. This role offers growth opportunities into Driver, Mechanic, and ProSales paths, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload for internal drivers, outside haulers, and customers.
• Verify delivery tickets and returns for accuracy.
• Clean, maintain, and organize heavy equipment and machinery.
• Review orders and stage equipment for drivers.
• Perform routine checks to ensure safety and good working order.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard and work area.
• Answer and resolve customer questions and provide expertise on equipment.

What you will do...

• Help to load and unload internal truck drivers, outside haulers and customers
• Verify delivery tickets and returns for accuracy
• Clean, maintain, and organize heavy equipment, construction equipment and various pieces of machinery.
• Review orders and stage equipment for drivers
• Perform routine checks on rental equipment to ensure it is safe and in good working order
• Maintain and clean and organized yard and work area
• Answer and resolve customer questions
• Provide customers with expert advice on the selection, operation and maintenance of all the various types of equipment
• Support all team members

Requirements

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors when required of the job

Skills

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks; stretch, turn, twist, and reach overhead; bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for extended periods of time
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Pay Range: $20-$22 per hour
