Job summary

Heller’s Gas, Inc. in Jonestown, PA is seeking a Yard Technician to inspect and fill portable propane tanks, and to perform maintenance such as revalving, repairs, draining, sanding and painting outdoors.

The role includes maintaining outdoor tank storage areas, assisting customers, and coordinating with service branches. The job requires adhering to applicable laws, a clean driving record, and readiness to work in varying weather, hours Monday–Friday with possible extra time.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience preferred.
• Background checks and pre-employment drug testing may be required.

Job Overview:

The Yard Technician position is responsible for the following:

• Inspecting and filling portable propane tanks
• Performing maintenance of propane tanks including revalving, repairing, draining, sanding, and painting
• Maintaining outdoor tank storage areas and moving tanks and equipment when necessary

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Inspects and fills portable propane tanks
• Maintains, repairs, and refurbishes propane tanks and equipment
• Performs maintenance and upkeep of outdoor tank storage areas
• Understands all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to the maintenance of tanks and propane equipment
• Acts as liaison between customers and service branches to address questions, concerns, or complaints
• Educates customers on safe and proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• Relevant experience preferred
• Employment is conditional on verification of clean driving record, background check(s), and pre-employment/random drug testing

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position and regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the ability to work outside of or in addition to those hours as needed.

Travel:

Travel expectation outside of service area is approximately 5%
