Job summary

H-E-B is seeking a Yard Spotter to operate at the Distribution Center Services. You will spot trailers at doors and move yard mules and trailers within the Retail Support Center, with required mule/tractor training on hire.

The role requires 3+ years of driving experience, a clean driving record, and passing DOT requirements. English literacy is mandatory, and you must be able to work weekends and maintain punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience driving with a valid license required.
• Good driving record with no suspensions or DWIs/DWUsever.
• Ability to obtain Life History MVR from Texas DPS if interviewed.
• Must read and speak English sufficiently to understand instructions.
• DOT pre-employment requirements completed prior to offer.

Job Summary:

As a Yard Spotter, you'll work at Distribution Center Services (DCS) moving yard mules and trailers within H-E-B Retail Support Centers. Upon hire, you'll complete mule and/or tractor training as required. Please note this position is not the Delivery Driver Trainee program used to train full time Drivers.

Age Requirement

Qualifications & Key Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience driving (with a valid driver’s license) (mandatory) - Required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• No suspended or revoked driver licenses, permits, or privileges in any state / county (mandatory) - Required
• Documented proof of a good driving record; applicants chosen to be interviewed must obtain a Life History MVR from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) (required) see below for instructions.
• NOTE: Police reports will be requested on an applicant whose MVR record reflects an accident

• Click on Request a driver record
• Enter requested information found on your driver’s license
• Click on Type 3A (Certified Complete Driving History)
• 3-year clear MVR, including moving violations, tickets, or (chargeable) accidents, including personal vehicle; record will be reviewed for preventability, based on H-E-B standards - Required
• No DWI/DUI or felony convictions ever in lifetime - Required
• Knowledge of the English language (mandatory) according to Regulation 398.3 (c)(4), “Every driver shall be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals and directions given in English and to respond to official inquiries”) - Required
• Familiarity with Section 2 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook - Required
• Advanced customer service and interpersonal skills - Required
• Ability to work with little or no supervision - Required
• Maintain an excellent attendance and punctuality record - Required

Education

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent (preferred) - Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Successful passing of Dept of Transportation (DOT) physical, DOT drug screen, background check, and verification of work history (required prior to job offer) - Required
• Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License upon hire Upon Hire - Required
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen, and meet all DOT driver qualifications - Required
• Ability to successfully complete all phases of the of the Spotter Trainee Program - Required

• Work primarily weekends, including nights and holidays
