Job summary

Warren CAT in Texas is seeking a Yard Specialist I to maintain yard operations and support Rental, Parts, and Service departments. You will prepare tools for shipment, inspect equipment, assist customers and drivers, and help keep the yard clean and organized.

This role requires a proactive attitude, ability to handle changing priorities, good communication, and willingness to work overtime, with occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tools for shipment to other stores and dealers.
• Dispose (check-in) all tools received for factory, vendors, and other locations.
• Assemble and disassemble work tools and label properly.
• Maintain good order and cleanliness of the yard.
• Assist Rental, Parts, and Service Departments as needed.
• Greet customers in yard and direct to office or unloading areas.
• Assist delivery drivers in loading/unloading rental equipment.
• Wash and perform light maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Ensure equipment is rental ready with inventory ID, fuel level, and condition.
• Involve in final inspection of equipment before customer receipt.
• Verify fuel consumed and inspect all details of equipment returned.
• Install service tags on equipment returned from rental.
• Move rental ready equipment to proper storage after service.

The Yard Specialist I is responsible for general maintenance and logistics of the Yard, as well as supporting the Rental, Parts, and Service Departments as needed.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Prepare tools for shipment to other stores and dealers.
• Properly dispose (check-in) all tools that are received for factory, vendors, and other locations.
• Assemble and disassemble work tools as required and ensure proper labeling of all tools.
• Maintain good order and cleanliness of the yard.
• Assist Rental, Parts, and Service Departments when instructed to do so.
• Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
• Assists delivery drivers in loading and unloading work tools.
• Will be involved in washing and/or performing light maintenance on work tools.
• Has good working knowledge of all work tools.
• Makes final inspection of equipment before customer receives it, verifying inventory ID number, fuel level, and “rental ready” condition.
• Verifies fuel consumed and inspects all “detail” of equipment when returned.
• Installs “service tags” on equipment returned from rental.
• Moves “rental ready” equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
• Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
• Assists customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment.
• Gives customers start/stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment.
• Will be involved in washing and/or performing light maintenance on rental equipment.

• Ability to work overtime as a job requirement dependent of department needs, as well as occasional weekend, holiday or evening work.
• Must be able to pass workstep test for position.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training.
