Job summary

Harris Feeding Company is seeking a Yard Operator to secure premises by patrolling and locking gates, inspecting buildings and equipment, and monitoring access points. You will weigh and pen cattle, report issues, and coordinate with yard management to maintain safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, basic cattle handling knowledge, and the ability to read safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• General knowledge of cattle handling.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

• Watches for and reports irregularities such as stray cattle, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and doors left unlocked.
• Sounds alarm or calls police, fire department, or yard management by telephone in case of fire or unauthorized presence.
• Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery for supervisory staff.
• Monitors water wells/tanks by observing gauges and interpreting readings.
• Receives incoming cattle by weighing, unloading, counting and penning.
