A key member of the Operations and Inventory Department, a Warehouse Yard Management Supervisor provides hands-on operational coordination for the daily movement of trailers, freight, equipment, and materials across the yard, dock, and transportation network.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise and coordinate daily yard, dock, trailer, routing, scheduling, fleet, and transportation network activities to support safe, and efficient movement of inbound and outbound materials.
Coordinate with Operations and Inventory teams, carriers, drivers and transportation partners, to plan receiving, shipping, delivery schedules, and trailer movement activity.
Manage daily routing, scheduling, yard staging, dock assignments, equipment availability, and fleet operations to support service commitments and timely deliveries.
Maintain and update accurate trailer, shipment, yard location, routing, shipping, logging, transportation rate, and route information using applicable transportation databases.
Monitor yard flow, trailer dwell time, gate congestion, dock utilization, inbound and outbound order activity, traffic patterns, and performance metrics to identify and resolve operational inefficiencies.
Implement and follow operational policies and procedures that support safety, compliance, efficiency, equipment control, and consistent transportation execution.
Audit yard and transportation processes to identify inefficiencies, improve workflow, and help ensure activities comply with applicable local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
Contact transportation providers to schedule freight pick-up, confirm routing requirements, resolve service issues, and ensure cargo is routed appropriately.
Collect, review, and report data related to shipping rates, freight movement, traffic activity, service performance, and operating trends to support operations and inventory departments.
Partner with warehouse leadership to prioritize loads, manage yard capacity, support labor and equipment planning, and align daily and weekly volume requirements with available dock, trailer, fleet, and driver resources.
Investigate and communicate shipment, inventory, documentation, yard, routing, safety, compliance, or delivery discrepancies to the appropriate stakeholders for timely resolution.

At least 5 and typically 10 years of related experience or training; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Has the ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
Basic knowledge of sending and receiving emails;
