Job summary

Barnhart in Memphis is seeking a Yard Lead to coordinate the daily movement, loading, unloading, and organization of project equipment at our 1701 Dunn Avenue facility. This role serves as a key communication link between the yard and PEG Dispatch to ensure smooth, safe operations.

The Yard Lead will operate forklifts, prepare Bills of Lading, inspect gear, and help maintain inventory with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. Overtime and some weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Forklift operation experience is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily loading, unloading, and movement of equipment in Memphis yard.
• Collaborate with PEG Dispatch to manage schedules and deliveries.
• Keep the yard organized, safe, and operational at all times.
• Occasionally perform hot-shot deliveries to jobsites.
• Operate forklifts from 10,000 to 120,000 lbs as needed.
• Prepare and verify Bills of Lading for yard entries/exits.
• Inspect equipment on arrival/departure and report issues.
• Maintain equipment tracking and inventory accuracy.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

Help keep Barnhart's projects moving by coordinating equipment, managing yard operations, and ensuring every load goes out safely and on time.

Position Summary:

The Yard Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily movement, loading, unloading, inspection, and organization of Project Equipment Group (PEG) and Memphis-based equipment at our 1701 Dunn Avenue facility. This role serves as a key point of communication between the yard and PEG Dispatch, ensuring equipment is prepared, documented, and delivered safely and efficiently to support projects across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily loading, unloading, and movement of equipment at our Memphis yard.
• Work closely with PEG Dispatch to manage shipment and delivery schedules.
• Keep the yard organized, safe, and operational.
• Make occasional 'hot-shot' deliveries to jobsites.
• Operate forklifts ranging from 10,000 to 120,000 lbs.
• Complete and verify Bills of Lading for equipment entering and leaving the yard.
• Inspect equipment upon arrival and departure and report any issues.
• Help maintain accurate equipment tracking and inventory.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of forklift experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with heavy equipment, construction equipment, or industrial operations.

License Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months of employment.
