Job summary

US Foods is seeking Yard Jockeys to support our deliveries and warehouse operations in Louisiana. You will communicate with dispatch, move trailers, and set up loads for on-time deliveries.

Requires a valid CDL Class A, at least 21 years old, and ability to work in varied weather. OT may be available and benefits include health, dental, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL Class A with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and communicate in English.
• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse as required by DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments.
• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor.
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments.
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers.
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and pallets.
• Place backhauls in correct door for unloading.

Main Ingredients of the Job

• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments
• Keep assigned equipment coupled
• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
• Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse
• Make sure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries.
• Work with mechanics nightly
• Must attend all required company meetings.
• All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required
• Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions

What You Bring to the Table

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
• Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is $25.00/hr.

As applicable, this role may also receive : overtime compensation.
