Job summary

Steel and Pipe Supply is seeking an entry-level Yard Helper to support our warehouse operations in Kansas City, MO. You will maintain yard areas and driveways, assist forklift operators, and help keep the facility clean and organized.

The role requires a dependable, positive attitude and the willingness to learn quickly. Overtime may be required, and the position offers a path to cross-training in different warehouse areas.

• Maintain yard areas and driveways free of debris such as metal banding and boards.
• Operate seasonal equipment (lawn mower, weed eater, etc.).
• Empty outside trash bins.
• Assist forklift operators as needed.
• Check in coils with handheld scanner.
• Willing to cross-train in other areas.

Job description

Position Description:

The Yard Helper is an entry level reporting to the supervisor. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: maintaining the yards, and driveways to keep clear of debris and weeds, picking up trash, help forklift drivers, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain yard areas and along driveways to keep free of debris such as metal banding and boards.
• Operate equipment and tools for seasonal activity (lawn mower, weed eater, etc.)
• Empty outside trash bins
• Helping forklift operators as needed ("lookout", helping with chains, etc.)
• Check in coils with handheld scanner
• Willing to cross train in other areas.

Physical & Work Requirements:

• Industrial environment. Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines. Exposed to outside weather and conditions.
• Able to operate equipment forklifts.
• Required to wear proper PPE in warehouse and yards.
• Able to work overtime as needed.
