Job summary

BURNCO Rock Products Ltd is hiring a Yard Helper for our Aggregates team in Texas. This full-time, field-based role supports safe material handling, equipment operation, and general plant maintenance at the Bridgeport site.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work 12-hour night shifts, and has experience in the aggregate industry. Welding skills and heavy machinery experience are a plus; HS diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks such as material handling, yard cleanup, machinery inspections, loading/unloading, and general facility housekeeping.
• Support equipment operators as needed and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Conduct minor maintenance and basic repairs on equipment and use hand tools to complete daily work requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and participate in cross-training.
• Adhere to safety policies and wear required PPE; report hazards and safety concerns.

You will perform essential manual and operational tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of an aggregate plant. Your responsibilities include routine duties like material handling, equipment operation, maintenance, safety inspections, and teamwork to meet daily production goals, all while adhering to company and regulatory safety standards.

What You Will Be Doing

• Perform routine tasks such as shoveling gravel, dust control, yard cleanup, machinery inspections, loading / unloading, inventory storage, and general facility housekeeping
• Support equipment operators as needed
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently
• Conduct minor maintenance and basic repairs on equipment
• Use various hand tools to complete daily work requirements
• Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational priorities and assist with cross-training in other roles
• Help maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment through regular housekeeping and maintenance tasks
• Walk the plant regularly to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and completed repairs
• Complete required documentation, report operational issues to the Foreman, and identify opportunities for plant improvements
• Adhere to all safety policies, including MSHA and company regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We Would Like From You

Location and other key details:

• This position is scheduled for an overnight shift, with hours primarily falling during the nighttime and early morning hours.
• This is a full-time permanent field-based position at our Bridgeport site
• This is a safety sensitive position, offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check
• Position involves working 12-hour shifts with weekend hours as necessary
• Travel to various job sites required as needed, less than 10%
• Regular outdoor work with exposure to a range of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
• Frequent sitting and use of fine motor skills such as manual dexterity, hand / eye coordination, and active hearing and vision
• Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed
• Regular exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, vests, and glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats, with additional PPE for tasks like welding or repairs
