Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is hiring a First Shift Yard Hostler (Non DOT) in Forney, Texas. Shift hours are 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Wed–Sat) with a pay of $21.50 per hour. Full-time staff qualify for monthly performance and safety bonuses.

The role supports shipping/receiving loads using the YMS Yard view system, moving trailers, pulling tires, and aiding in yard upkeep. Requirements include a HS diploma and at least one year driving/switching a tractor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard tractor to move trailers to/from dock doors and yard slots.
• Perform daily yard checks and assist with security of the facility.
• If needed, operate forklift for returns, pallets, tires, or maintenance tasks.
• Follow supervisor instructions and adhere to Goodyear safety standards.

Position: First (1st) Shift Yard Hostler (Non DOT)

Shift: 5:00AM –; 5:00PM, (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

Pay: $21.50per hour

In addition to the general job description below, be responsible for supporting the supervisor’s mission of shipping and receiving loads using the least number of man-hours. This person will operate an Ottawa yard tractor to move trailers to/from dock doors and to/from yard slots as specified by the Operations Supervisor or Lead in support of the operation. The hostler is responsible for completing these moves, requested through the Yard view tablet or by other means, accurately and promptly in YMS. The hostler is also responsible for accomplishing daily yard checks, as mandated by Goodyear, as well as aiding in the security of the facility. In periods of downtime or less activity, the hostler may be tasked to operate a forklift to process Warranty Returns, move empty pallets, or pull, stock, or move tires. Hostlers are also responsible for yard cleanliness and may be tasked to help with routine maintenance duties (ex.-changing dock lights, watering batteries, etc.) This individual will need to perform other duties as assigned by management and supervision.

Position Requirements:

• Good interpersonal skills –; communicates with FH service, Traffic, Ops Sup, Ops Lead, Security Guard, maintenance, etc.
• Complete understanding of YMS Yard view (will be trained)
• Must be able to operate Ottawa yard tractor.
• Ability to Multitask
• Must be willing to operate Material Handling Equipment in Operations
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Pull, Stock, Move, etc. tires in RF (meeting Red Prairie standard)
• Must be comfortable with changing initiatives.

Role Purpose:

Drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. Makes decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations. Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product count. Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervision. Refuels vehicles on site and documents locations and condition of equipment.

Key Accountabilities:

• Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
• Maintains equipment fuel levels and refuels equipment during appropriate times.
• Loads and unloads trucks, verifying the count and condition of product. Reports overages, shortages, and damages.
• Performs daily yard checks.
• Properly secures loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notifies supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
• Complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
