Job summary

McLane Company, Inc is hiring a Yard Driver to support trailer movement at the distribution center and assist in prep for shipping. You will monitor loaded trailers, perform pre/post trip inspections, and ensure product security during transport.

The role requires a Class A CDL, at least two years of driving experience and a strong safety record. You will work Sun–Thu 10:00am–6:30pm with comprehensive benefits after 60 days and vacation/leave accrual from day one.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A required.
• 2 years driving experience desired.
• 100,000-mile tractor-trailer experience desired.
• Accident-free driving record for past three years desired.
• Ability to read/understand English; read labels, instructions, and bills of lading.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor, attach trailer and secure lines.
• Clean and spot trailers to doors or lot locations.
• Inspect trailers for defects; submit pre/post-trip reports.
• Ensure refrigeration unit is functioning and report issues.
• Drive within yard and nearby roads following regulations and company procedures.
• Meet the physical demands of the position.
• Load/unload and deliver products as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Yard Driver is responsible for providing support for trailer movement at the distribution center, as well as assisting preparation of trailers for shipping and monitoring the status of loaded trailers.

What you'll do as a Yard Driver:

• Drive tractor, maneuvering into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Clean and spot trailers to specified doors or lot locations.
• Inspect trailers for defects, pre/post trip and submit inspection report indicating condition.
• Inspect loaded trailers to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product and that refrigeration unit is functioning; report any issues to Operations Manager or Warehouse Lead.
• Drive tractor-trailer within yard or within short distances outside of yard, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering on the road and on Company premises.
• Meet this position's physical demands.
• Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by our customers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Yard Driver Teammate:

• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Have 2 years related driving experience is desired.
• Have 100,000-mile tractor-trailer experience is desired.
• Possess Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
• Be accident-free driving record for the past three years desired.
• Be able to read and comprehend labels, instructions, bill of lading required.
• Be able to perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product required.
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
