Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Yard Driver to safely move trailers, trucks, and equipment within the company yard and dock areas. You will coordinate with dispatch and warehouse teams to maintain efficient yard operations and ensure safety compliance.

The role requires experience with yard tractors/hostlers, strong situational awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. English proficiency is essential, with potential CDL consideration based on role needs.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required; CDL may be required based on operational needs.
• Experience operating yard tractors, hostlers, trailers, or similar equipment.
• Ability to maneuver equipment in confined spaces and active yard environments.
• Ability to document trailer movements and yard activity.
• Strong communication with dispatch, warehouse, and transportation teams.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate yard trucks, hostlers, tractors, and other assigned equipment.
• Move trailers between parking areas, loading docks, staging areas, and maintenance locations.
• Connect and disconnect trailers in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment.
• Accurately position trailers at assigned dock doors and staging locations.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, yard activity, and equipment status.
• Communicate with dispatch, warehouse personnel, drivers, and leadership regarding trailer locations, priorities, and operating conditions.
• Maintain an organized, secure, and safe yard.
• Follow company safety procedures, yard traffic rules, and applicable DOT requirements.
• Immediately report vehicle, trailer, equipment, cargo, or facility damage.
• Monitor trailer and equipment conditions and report maintenance needs.
• Assist with yard checks and trailer inventory when required.
• Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent entering and exiting of vehicles and trailers, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday. Employees must be able to connect and disconnect trailers, perform equipment inspections, and lift up to 50 lbs. while performing yard-related activities.

Safety Expectations

Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, OSHA standards, TSA requirements where applicable, and customer-site safety rules. Employees must immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, equipment damage, cargo damage, and regulatory concerns.

Must have 1 year of verifiable TT experience within the last 5 years. Must have yard experience.
