Job summary

US Farathane in Austin, TX is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Yard Driver to move material between manufacturing plants and warehouses, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining organized operations to support on-time delivery.

You must have a valid truck driving license and a DOT license, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to read safety rules and write routine reports. This hourly, non-exempt role requires safety awareness and a commitment to quality.

Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Yard Driver

Department: Materials

Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Handle material to and from manufacturing plants and warehouses in order to meet optimal internal and external customer satisfaction in a safe and timely manner and ensuring quality requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Transport finished goods and raw materials to and from manufacturing plants and warehouses.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods, etc.)
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Develop and maintain an organized and efficient loading and unloading system.
  • Verify all items listed on the work order are loaded and unloaded.
  • Submit trip report/log to supervisor daily.
  • Fill out trip report/log completely and accurately.
  • Inspect vehicle(s) for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Report defects, accidents or violations.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, Level II procedures, etc.)
  • Comply with all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective area.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Valid truck driving license and D.O.T. license is required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
