Job summary

McCoy’s Building Supply in Lufkin, TX is seeking a part-time Yard Crewmember to assist customers in the lumberyard, operate a forklift, stock products, and support overall store operations.

The role requires forklift certification and a high school diploma (preferred). You will load/unload goods, handle customer inquiries, and help maintain yard and warehouse cleanliness while following safety procedures and attending scheduled trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Forklift operator certification required.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of the positional training offered.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers as they enter the yard.
• Loads and unloads products into customers, vendors, and company vehicles safely and accurately.
• Responds to customers’ questions regarding products.
• Informs store management or supervisor of any customer complaints or requests in a timely manner.
• Moves, stocks, and rearranges building materials in the yard, warehouse, and interior of the store.
• Performs routine safety checks on forklifts according to company guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness and appearance of the lumberyard and warehouses.
• Verifies customer or vendor ticket matches merchandise being loaded.
• Covers exposed materials to prevent weather damage when required.
• Cuts lumber and other related materials as requested by customer.
• Operates a forklift.
• Attends all store meetings and training sessions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers as they enter the yard.

• Responds to customers’ questions regarding products.

• Successfully complete all company training and certification requirements regarding equipment usage, including obtaining McCoy’s forklift certification.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Forklift operator certification required. Successful completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of the positional training offered.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and moving around the yard and warehouse.
• Use the three point hold when getting into trucks and/or forklifts.
• Lift up to 80 pounds at times, occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds, push/pull 50-pound loads.
• Perform repetitive movements over long periods.
• May need to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work in various types of weather.
