Job summary

Chick-fil-A Supply in Winter Haven, FL seeks an experienced yard jockey to move tractors, trailers and straight trucks safely and efficiently at our distribution center yard.

You will follow all DOT regulations and company policies, perform DVIR reporting, participate in safety trainings, and support yard operations including fueling and washing as needed. Must be 21+, with at least 1 year of commercial driving and a clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe yard movements of tractors, trailers, and straight trucks.
• Maintain proper asset locations and assist yard audits.
• Occasionally fuel assets at on-site location and wash assets as needed.
• Move third-party and private fleet assets while complying with ELD and hours-of-service rules.
• Attend safety trainings and report defects or accidents promptly.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

As a Chick-fil-A Supply yard jockey, you will move tractors, trailers, and straight trucks in a safe, accurate, and timely manner at distribution center yards. You are a safe, professional driver who follows all company policies and laws and regulations regarding commercial drivers. In this role, based at the Distribution Center in Winterhaven, FL you will help support continued innovation at an operation like no other in the food service industry.

Responsibilities

In addition to making safe, accurate, and timely yard movements, the yard jockey will:

• Ensure that all transportation assets are located in the proper places on the yard at the appropriate times and assist in yard audits
• On occasion support asset fueling at our on-site fuel location
• On occasion support asset washing at our on-site wash bay
• Move both 3rd Party Carrier trailers and assets from Chick-fil-A Supply’s private fleet
  • Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements:
  • Operating within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD)
  • Maintain an acceptable Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) record
  • Follow all pre- and post-trip equipment inspection and DVIR reporting procedures
  • Following all policies and procedures in the FSMA regarding safe food transport
  • Immediately notifying team leaders of any accident or on the job injury and complete reports
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy
  • Abide by yard safety procedures, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings, safety vests
• Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Other duties as may be assigned

Required Business Qualifications

• Manage time off to ensure proper rest and operate in compliance with DOT regulations
• Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
• Prepare for shifts to rotate
• Attend shift in proper attire and with PPE and safety equipment as required by company guidelines
• Work in a multi-temperature environment including freezer temperatures
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Distribution Center staff
• Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner
• Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload
• Able to travel 5% for supplier visits and/or stranded tractor/trailer movements due to Hours of Service constraints on delivery drivers

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Minimum 21 years of age
• Minimum 1-year commercial driving experience
• Occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, and/or move pallets/carts with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking): to safely follow verbal instructions, complete documentation and paperwork, and accurately interpret labels, pick lists, scanner prompts, signage, and company communications.

• Prior experience as a yard jockey or coordinating a transportation yard
