Job summary

Pain Physicians of Wisconsin in Kenosha seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform C‑arm positioning and imaging to guide interventional pain procedures.

The role requires travel to Waukesha and Franklin locations as needed. You will support the ASC with safety, patient care, and image documentation, while maintaining aseptic technique and collaborating with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Position patient on OR table and set up equipment for optimum view as requested by physician.
  • Make exposures per procedure and ensure images meet standards; reject/repeat as needed.
  • Use beam-restrictive devices and shielding to minimize exposure for patient and staff.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety while maintaining dignity.
  • Assist the nurse in patient care as directed.
  • Participate in Universal Protocol/Surgical Time Out and verify patient identity, procedure, and side.
  • Lead radiation safety training and monitor exposure to keep staff exposure low.
  • Maintain radiology equipment and badge use; troubleshoot C‑Arm issues; ensure lead apron use.
  • Document fluoroscopy usage and store/print images per physician request.
  • Follow aseptic techniques and participate in Quality Assessment activities.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and staff; support ASC team.
  • Accept and perform Radiation Safety Officer duties for ASC.

PositionSummary

This position will have a home location of Kenosha, however you will need to able to travel to Waukesha and Franklin locations when needed. The purpose of this position is to perform positioning of the C-Arm and patient and technical skills using the C-arm to capture images of the requested portions of the human body to help guide the physician in the performance of the interventional pain procedure.



  • Position patient on OR table; s e t up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of the specific area of the body as requested by physician.

  • Determine positioning needs of the patient and imaging requests of the physician by reading orders or instructions from the physician. Make exposures necessary for the requested procedure, rejecting and repeating any images that do not meet established standards.

  • Use beam-restrictive devices and patient shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.

  • Explain procedures and process to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation. Maintain safety and always preserve dignity of patient.

  • Assist the nurse in providing care as directed.

  • Actively participate in the Universal Protocol/Surgical Time Out by actively listening and responding regarding the confirmation of correct patient, using two patient identifiers, correct procedure, side, etc.

  • Lead and maintain appropriate radiation safety training and competencies. Assist in monitoring methods of exposure to radiation to assure that staff are exposed to least amount of radiation possible.

  • Maintain radiological equipment and proper badge use and storage. Troubleshoot problems with C-Arm. Assure appropriate use of equipment, including lead apron use by all staff in OR.

  • Document fluoroscopy usage and correct storage and printing of images as determined by physician request.

  • Follow principles of aseptic technique in performance of duties.

  • Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities as a member of the team.

  • Effectively communicate with all physicians and staff members of the team.

  • Accept and performs role of Radiation Safety Officer for ASC.

  • Demonstrate competency and perform additional duties in at least two of the following areas:

    • Intra-operative : Apply and monitor principles of aseptic technique throughout the intra-operative period. Assist physician and team by having all equipment available and ready. Efficiently participates in the “turn-over” of the OR between cases, performing duties while observing aseptic technique. Communicate all breaches of aseptic technique immediately to physician and RN.

    • Pre/ Post Op : Assist RN in preparing the patient for the procedure by correctly identifying patient using two patient identifiers and procedure to be performed. Confirm and update medication and allergy profile, complete all waived testing after demonstration of competency. Assist in keeping the ASC neat, clean and orderly, following appropriately cleaning protocols, using correct disinfectant and while wearing appropriate PPE.

    • Preceptor : Effectively communicate with and lead all education regarding radiation safety in the ASC. Function as a leader in the ASC by performing as a preceptor to new staff, communicate effectively regarding new employee progress. Assure that the new employee is able to function independently prior to allowing them to perform their job independently. Actively and enthusiastically participate in the orientation process striving for the independence and success of the new employee as a member of the ASC team. Complete preceptor portion of competency assessments and skills checklists.

Qualifications


  • High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.

  • At least 5 years of related experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills. Demonstrates excellent judgment, sometimes while under pressure.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Professional, pleasant, and compassionate behavior towards patients, families, physicians, staff, vendors, organizational leadership and general public.

  • Evidence of leadership qualities. Consistently contributes to the improvement of the Ambulatory Surgery Center and the organization. Participates willingly and effectively in meetings and in ASC projects.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


Licenses & Certifications


  • Current unrestricted Wisconsin License as a Licensed Radiographer

  • Current certification ARRT by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent.

  • BLS certified or to obtain BLS certification within three months of hire.
