Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System is seeking an XR CT Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. This role involves performing diagnostic radiography procedures, operating CT equipment, and providing patient education. The successful candidate must have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program, be OBMI and ARRT registered, and hold a current BLS certification. A minimum of 2 years CT experience is preferred.

This position offers a flexible schedule with competitive compensation ranging from $40.87 to $68.43 per hour along with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Overview

XR CT Technologist in Diagnostic Imaging. Reports to the Imaging Manager. Compensation: Min $40.87 - Max $68.43 per hour. Medical, Dental & Vision benefits paid by Employer. Definition of position: Provides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Performs computed tomography to obtain diagnostic sectional images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic radiography procedures.
  • Corroborates patient''s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patient and others.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Verifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.
  • Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
  • As appropriate, prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, in agreement with state statutes and institutional policy.
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
  • Computed Tomography (CT) specific duties: Operates CT equipment and accessories; selects appropriate program for the desired protocol.
  • Understands methods and is capable of performing venipunctures; evaluates images for technical quality and adjusts display parameters as needed.
  • Maintains archival storage of digitized data and observes universal precautions.
  • Provides patient education related to CT procedures.
  • Completes CT skills checks as required (e.g., head, spine, chest, abdominal and pelvis anatomy; safe contrast usage).
  • Supports hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures; participates in required education for applicable programs (e.g., DNV).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licenses/ Certifications: OBMI and ARRT registered CT technologist; current BLS certification.
  • Experience: None required; preferred minimum of 2 years CT experience.
