Job summary

IPG is seeking an Xpak Operator in our Production department in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on operating the XPack machine, starting the line, and ensuring smooth throughput while maintaining safety and quality.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts, adjusting controls to meet specs, performing basic maintenance, and recording production metrics. Applicants should have a high school diploma, English fluency, basic math, and familiarity with AS400, Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer knowledge (AS400, Word, Excel).
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 lbs and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Start‑up and operate the XPack equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and measure finished pieces to ensure conformance to standards.
• Monitor controls to keep product within production specs.
• Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Record quality and production metrics within deadlines.
• Perform work with a safety‑first mindset and 5S practices.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Position Description
Title: Xpak Operator
Department: Production
Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Position Purpose: Operates the XPack Machine
Principle Accountabilities

• Responsible for the safe, controlled start-up and operation of the XPack equipment including starting the machine, engaging the feed, and observing the operation of the area.
• Inspects and measures completed pieces to verify conformity to customer production standards.
• Monitors and adjusts controls to ensure product complies with production standards.
• Maintains equipment through completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.
• Records quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines as necessary.
• Performs all work in a safety first mentality and with utilization of 5S skills.
• Related tasks as requested by supervisor
  

Essential Skills And Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, AS400, Word, Excel
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to maximum of 40 lbs.
• Area requires use of hearing protection and eye protection.
