Job summary

SAIC is seeking a hands-on Technical Documentation Specialist to build and maintain high-quality digital technical publications for DoD programs. You will work with XML/HTML, structured authoring workflows, and tools like Arbortext Editor to produce PDFs and other formats.

Required: Associate’s degree with 5+ years in technical/digital publishing, XML authoring experience, DoD standards knowledge, ability to travel up to 20%, and eligibility for a Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in technical/digital authoring.
• Experience with XML authoring and Arbortext Editor.
• Familiarity with DoD technical publications and standards.
• Ability to travel up to ~20%.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance (Interim Secret to start).

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and format technical manuals and related content using XML-based tools and structured authoring workflows.
• Apply DoD and program standards to ensure documentation is accurate and compliant.
• Integrate tables, figures, and graphics using suitable authoring tools.
• Produce final digital outputs (PDF and other formats) meeting style and program requirements.
• Manage versions and publication lifecycles within content management systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, writers, and developers to translate inputs into clear documentation.
• Support document control activities, including change tracking and QA.
