Job summary

The New School’s xFab Lab is seeking a Course Assistant to support the xFab 5270 course, xFab Lecture. The role provides non-instructional support to instructors and helps organize lab spaces and materials for hands-on electronics and fabrication projects.

Ideal candidates are current MFA Design & Technology students with strong academics, reliability, and excellent communication. Familiarity with xFab materials and equipment, plus the ability to work independently on campus, is valued.

Qualifications

• Current MFA Design & Technology student with good academic standing.
• Familiarity with xFab materials and equipment used in the lab.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, reliable and organized.
• Ability to work independently with professional responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Work with xFab instructors in a non-instructional support capacity.
• Maintain and organize xFab course supplies with clear labeling and storage.
• Organize and prepare instructional and task-based learning spaces.
• Transfer custodianship of materials between xFab Lab sections as needed.
• Assist with equipment and materials pickup on campus.
