Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate AMA approved radiology program.
  • Registered with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • CT state license.
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
  • CPR certification.
  • At least one year’s experience as a radiological technologist.
  • Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for MRI procedures by positioning them and following MRI safety policies.
  • Start intravenous sites and inject contrast as needed.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and protect patients and staff.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Meet patients' age- or condition-related needs.
  • Accurately input procedure data in RIS for charges and records.
  • Utilize computer systems to prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with team to deliver quality service.

Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Full-Time ROCC Technologist at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, CT.

Position Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Compensation: MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience. The pay range for this position is between $26.00 - $40.29 an hour (+ applicable competitive shift differentials).

Job Summary:

Provides support under the remote supervision of an ROCC MRI technologist. Assists with patient preparation, including initiating IV access and preparing contrast materials as needed. May support multiple imaging modalities within the radiology department. Adheres to all established policies and procedures in compliance with departmental, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA standards.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Prepares patients for MRI procedures by positioning them on the table and adhering strictly to site MRI safety policies.
  • Start intravenous sites, assess existing sites and inject intravenous contrast according to established protocols to assist the radiologist in diagnosis.
  • Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of radiation protection devices and adhering to radiation safety standards in order to protect patient and staff and to comply with regulatory agencies and requirements.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor.
  • Meets the needs of patients with regard to the patient’s age, condition or other special requirements.
  • Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information.
  • Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.

Qualifications Guidelines:

Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate AMA approved radiology program.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT state license.

  • CPR certification.
  • At least one year’s experience as a radiological technologist
  • Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field.

  • Working knowledge applicable to department technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to department technology.
  • Patients care standards and requirements.
  • Quality assurance principles and practices.
  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • OSHA principles and practices.
  • TJC standards of practice.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
  • Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
  • Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
  • Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
Special Conditions:
  • May be required to rotate on weekend and/or holiday schedule.
  • May be required to cover ancillary offices, as needed.
  • OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Physical lifting and walking required.
Salary Information

$26 - $40.29Hourly Wage

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
