Job summary

Center for Neurosciences in Tucson, AZ is seeking a part-time X-ray technologist to operate C-ARM and assist radiologists with procedures. The role includes prepping rooms, positioning patients, taking digital X-rays, and distributing images to staff, while following infection control and safety standards.

Job description

General Summary:A nonexempt part-time position responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.Essential Job Responsibilities1. Operates C-ARM and assists in pain management procedures alongside the physician. Helps prep procedure room. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.2. Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area. Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takes digital X-rays of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physicians. Processes electronic images and works with IDC to correct and improve X-rays images, retaking when required. Distributes X-rays to appropriate medical staff.3. Maintains required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports. Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Complies with safety standards.4. Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairsEducation: Associate’s degree in radiological technology from accredited X-ray technologist program.Experience: One to three years of experience as X-ray technologist, preferably in medical practice environment.Other Requirements: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred.Performance Requirements:Knowledge:1. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.4. Knowledge of legal and regulatory government provisions.5. Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security rules.Skills:1. Skill in positioning patients properly.2. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.3. Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.Abilities:1. Ability to work in team based work setting which places patient satisfaction as the major focal point for measuring success.2. Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required.3. Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.4. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.5. Ability to work in team based work setting which places high patient satisfaction as the major focal point for measuring success6. Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.7. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.Equipment Operated: Radiological equipment used for medical diagnosis and treatment.Work Environment: Radiological unit. Exposure to limited disease and radiation (monitored) in the course of performing the work.Mental/Physical Requirements: Standing six to eight hours per day, walking, stooping, and bending. Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress when working with anxious patients.
