Job summary

Patient First seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform quality x-rays with proper positioning and exposure, while following safety procedures to protect patients and staff. The candidate should hold ARRT registration or VA-limited licensure, have a high school diploma, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be ARRT-registered radiologic technologist or VA Board-licensed Limited Radiologic Technologist
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 18+ years of age
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; clerical experience preferred
  • 1 year clerical experience preferred; 1 year clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality x-rays with correct positioning and radiation exposure
  • Implement safety procedures to minimize patient and staff radiation exposure
  • Create and document x-ray CD copies per Patient First guidelines
  • Label images and sleeves correctly for copies
  • Understand and operate x-ray and processing equipment properly
  • Use and understand the bell system and daily logs
  • Maintain patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, and equipment
  • Use medical records systems and OSHA-related cleaning practices
  • Receive, move and restock supplies; adhere to Patient First policies
  • Attend training and staff meetings; be available as needed for patient care

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure
  • Implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation
  • Creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines.
  • Labeling images and sleeves correctly when making these copies
  • Understanding the x-ray and processing equipment so that it will be used correctly
  • Using and understanding the bell system
  • Filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork
  • Ensuring the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment
  • Understanding and using the following: Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen
  • Understanding and using the automated medical records system
  • Cleaning work area, biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines and other maintenance assignments as directed
  • Receiving, moving, and restocking ordered supplies
  • Adhering to established Patient First policies and procedures
  • Addressing physician and nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner
  • Completing the tasks listed on the checklists for the x-ray area and treatment area
  • Attending training classes and staff meetings as scheduled
  • Being available as needed, breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time for patient care and to maintain center operations
  • Responsible for the operating, using and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained
Minimum Education and Professional Requirements
  • Employee must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Keyboarding experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • One year of clerical experience preferred
  • One year of clinical experience preferred
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Licensed to practice as Radiologic Technologist or a Limited Radiologic Technologist by the Virginia Board of Health Professions Limited Radiologic Technologist must be licensed to practice in the following anatomical areas: chest/thorax, extremities, skull/sinuses, spine and abdomen/pelvis
Salary Range

Salary Range: $33.00 - $38.00, depending on experience.
