Job summary

University Orthopedics seeks an X-Ray Technologist to perform radiologic procedures across MA/RI locations, under supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager. The role requires ARRT registration, CPR/BLS, and strong patient interaction skills. Travel to multiple sites may be necessary.

Location is Easton, MA with flexible scheduling to cover different offices. Prior orthopedic radiology experience is a plus, and the position is full-time with benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT registration (or pending) and CPR/BLS certification.
• Knowledge of anatomy and safety procedures for radiology.
• Experience in patient interaction and ability to travel to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform X-ray examinations as requested by UOI providers.
• Identify and prepare patients, select correct protocols and anatomy.
• Log completed procedures in computer and site schedules.
• Maintain equipment and examination rooms and stock supplies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff during exams.
• Cover additional locations or shifts as needed by the Manager.

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Reports To: Diagnostic Imaging Manager

This position will be based in either All MA Locations or All RI Locations based on the candidates preference.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor and/or Lead technologist, this position will perform X-Ray examination procedures requested by University Orthopedics (UOI) providers. The work in this position contributes to patient’s overall successful interaction within the office. Exceptional people skills are needed. Must have flexible availability to cover additional locations or shifts if needed.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions to the lead technologist.
• Properly Identify and prepare patients for radiologic procedures and performs x-ray exams following established protocols and procedures for patient care and safety.
• Accurately select the correct patient, anatomy, and protocols to complete exam.
• Confirm, schedule and log completed radiologic procedures in computer and site schedules.
• Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times.
• Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs

REQUIREMENTS:

• Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (R) (ARRT) registration or pending registration
• Current CPR/ BLS certification
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic x-ray procedures.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics necessary to safely perform x-ray exams.
• Basic knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
• Basic understanding of computer functions necessary to perform x-ray exams
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide routine diagnostic imaging procedures to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with consideration to cultural and developmental stages during the exam process.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with providers, staff, patients, and families
• One year of customer service experience in a health care setting is preferred
• Special consideration given for prior orthopedic clinical experience.
• Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary .
