Position Overview

NHUC is currently looking for an X-ray technologist or technicians to join our team. The technologist will operate X-ray equipment, produce images to aid providers with diagnosing and/or treating diseases or injuries, help with triaging and rooming patients, and perform related duties. The role includes taking vitals, reviewing patient history, and summarizing the reason for visit.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for center cleanliness and positive customer service.
• Prepare patients for radiological procedures and protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
• Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in medical diagnosis or treatment, and implementing infection control procedures.
• Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis, adjusts settings, positions patients, and captures images of requested body parts.
• Processes film and checks X-rays for clarity, retaking images when necessary, and distributes images to appropriate medical staff.
• Maintains required records, including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports, and performs quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets legal and departmental standards.
• Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining required repairs.
• Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, and calls patients to relay physician messages and diagnostic test or lab results.
• Communicates with front staff on patient flow and wait times and informs providers of any abnormal labs or tests.
• Recognizes patient distress and takes appropriate action.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to Federal guidelines and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 1-year degree in Radiographic Technology.
• Current South Carolina license for radiographic technology; Limited Practice Radiographer – General Certification accepted.
• Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
• Trained in OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
• Willing to work 12‑hour shifts and weekends.
• Willing to work at other centers as needed.
