Job summary

The X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant at MyCare Medical Group performs diagnostic X-ray procedures and supports physicians with patient care. This role blends radiologic technology with clinical MA duties to support smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience while complying with HIPAA and OSHA.

Responsibilities include operating X-ray equipment, positioning patients, explaining procedures, maintaining image quality and safety, and documenting results.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT certification or equivalent certification.
  • Valid state licensure as an X-Ray Technician/Radiologic Technologist.
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient healthcare setting preferred.
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience involving direct patient contact preferred.
  • Knowledge of radiographic techniques, equipment operation, patient positioning, and radiation safety.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clinical procedures.

Job description

X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant

The X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant is responsible for performing diagnostic X-ray procedures while also assisting physicians and other healthcare providers with the delivery of quality patient care. This position combines radiologic technology responsibilities with clinical Medical Assistant duties to support efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience. The X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant works closely with physicians, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA, OSHA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Responsibilities
X-Ray / Radiologic Technology
  • Operate X-ray equipment to perform diagnostic imaging examinations as ordered by physicians.
  • Properly position patients and adjust imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Explain X-ray procedures to patients, answer questions, and provide reassurance to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Evaluate the technical quality of radiographic images and repeat examinations when necessary to obtain clear and accurate results.
  • Follow all radiation safety protocols and maintain appropriate radiation protection for patients, staff, and self.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to radiographic examinations and patient information.
  • Perform routine equipment quality control and maintenance checks and report equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain knowledge of current radiologic technology, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with specialized procedures or diagnostic testing, as applicable to the practice.
Medical Assistant / Clinical Support
  • Identify patients’ chief complaints and document observations accurately in the patient’s medical record. Communicate abnormal findings or laboratory results to the physician or appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Assist patients with completing medical history forms and prepare patients for examinations and treatment.
  • Perform and document height, weight, vital signs, and vision testing.
  • Perform clinical tests and procedures as directed, including EKGs, spirometry, venipuncture, skin punctures, strep screening, glucometer testing, and urine testing.
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and treatments, including injections, wound care, pelvic examinations, minor procedures, and IUD insertions, as applicable.
  • Assist with identifying patients’ psychosocial needs and communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Perform patient triage according to established protocols and prioritize patients based on clinical needs.
  • Maintain patient flow throughout the office and assist with managing walk-in and scheduled patients.
  • Document patient calls and follow up on patient needs, pharmacy messages, and physician orders.
  • Transcribe physician orders and prepare appropriate requisitions, forms, and pharmacy communications.
  • Notify patients of changes or instructions ordered by the physician.
  • Ensure physicians complete required signatures for charts, laboratory results, prescriptions, and diagnostic reports.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain exam rooms, laboratories, and clinical areas with appropriate supplies.
  • Monitor and maintain medical supply inventory and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Assist one or more physicians as needed to support efficient clinical operations.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Comply with OSHA standards, infection control procedures, and all applicable organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
