Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform imaging studies and ensure high-quality diagnostic results. The role requires ARRT certification, RI license, and CPR (BLS), with a minimum of one year of experience serving patients in a radiology setting.

The successful candidate will operate advanced radiographic equipment, position patients safely, verify orders, and document exams in CR/DR/PACS while maintaining ALARA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved two-year radiology program.
  • AMA approved school of Radiology Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technology.
  • RI license and ARRT certification CPR certification (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiologic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images following ALARA principles.
  • Update patient information and complete forms for interpretation.
  • Verify orders and document exams using CR, DR and PACS after imaging.
  • Position patients using anatomy knowledge to maximize diagnostic yield.
  • Interview patients and review available data to identify contraindications.
  • Maintain safety training and adhere to department safety policies.

Under the direction of the department director and the Chief, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.

Responsibilities
  • 1.HIS/ RIS System
    • 1.1Updates all patients' information.
  • 2.Forms (History, Preg & Req)
    • 2.1Completes all information needed for interpretation.
  • 3.Equipment
    • 3.1Reports all malfunctions to manager or Bio-Med.
  • 4.Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
    • 4.1Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information, as evidenced by image taken.
  • 5.Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert any party to possible contradictions for procedure.
    • 5.1Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam.
  • 6.Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality images using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standard
    • 6.1Understands and is able to utilize all x-ray rooms in main department.
  • 7.Performs various clerical duties including, but not limited to:
    • 7.1Verification of information (to include reading and verifying physican written order) and exams performed, using CR, DR, and PACs immediately after completing exams.
  • 8.Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
    • 8.1All required safety education programs have been attended.
Qualifications
EDUCATION

Must be a graduate of an approved two year program. Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiology Technology. Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technology.

EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience. Will consider new grads

LICENSURE

Must possess RI license and ARRT certification CPR certification (BLS) required
