Company Overview

Chattanooga Imaging is part of a network of six multi-modality imaging centers dedicated to providing comprehensive diagnostic imaging services. Our centers are equipped with advanced imaging technology, including ultrasound, MRI, CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy, and other diagnostic modalities, to support accurate, timely, and patient-centered care.

Position Summary

The X-ray/Fluoro Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, radiologist direction, established protocols, and applicable safety standards. This role requires strong technical imaging skills, attention to detail, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort.

The X-ray/Fluoro Technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, clinical staff, and center leadership to ensure accurate image acquisition, efficient patient flow, and a positive patient experience.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray and fluoroscopy exams and procedures under the direction of the radiologist and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Review physician orders and confirm the appropriate exam or procedure prior to imaging.
  • Greet patients professionally, verify patient identity, explain procedures, and obtain relevant medical history.
  • Prepare patients for X-ray and fluoroscopic procedures while ensuring patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
  • Properly position patients and equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
  • Operate X-ray and fluoroscopy equipment accurately and safely, following all radiation safety protocols.
  • Apply appropriate radiation protection measures for patients, staff, and self, including shielding and exposure control when applicable.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to patient discomfort, adverse reactions, or emergency situations.
  • Analyze images for technical quality, positioning, clarity, and completeness, making adjustments as needed to meet diagnostic requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of procedures, images, and patient information in the electronic medical record, RIS/PACS, or other imaging systems.
  • Assist radiologists and physicians during fluoroscopic procedures as needed.
  • Follow aseptic technique, infection control standards, and organizational safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked imaging room.
  • Ensure imaging equipment is operational and report equipment issues or malfunctions promptly to the appropriate supervisor or service provider.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to support diagnostic interpretation and continuity of care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with advances in radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging practices, safety standards, and equipment technology.
  • Maintain consistent, regular, and predictable attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • May be required to work at other locations or support additional shifts based on operational needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and scope of the position.
Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical and environmental demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist patients for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, move, or position patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate imaging equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to see and hear adequately to perform imaging procedures and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Work is performed in a clinical imaging environment with potential exposure to radiation, infectious materials, and bodily fluids under controlled conditions.
  • Ability to wear radiation monitoring devices and follow radiation safety requirements.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, or extended hours based on operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program required.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT(R), required.
  • Current applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required, if applicable.
  • Experience performing diagnostic X-ray procedures required.
  • Fluoroscopy experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiographic positioning, radiation safety, and medical imaging principles required.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic radiology practices, medical terminology, patient care protocols, and imaging systems.
  • Experience working in a clinical imaging environment preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification preferred or required based on company policy.
