Kids for the Future in Marathon, FL is seeking a wastewater plant technician to perform advanced repairs and troubleshooting on electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment. You will work with PLC components, control panels, pumps, and SCADA systems to maintain proper treatment processes.
The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a Florida driver’s license, and 2-3 years of related experience with city infrastructure. This is a full-time position with on-site work at the facility.
Performs advanced technical repairs and troubleshooting on City electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment, which may include but not be limited to PLC components, electrical control panels, motor control centers, various instrumentation, various pumps and other mechanical equipment, automatic valves, computer integrated instrumentation, and all other related wastewater equipment including grinder pump stations and associated equipment.
Wastewater treatment plant operator trainee duties include but are not limited to:
Qualifications:High School Diploma or G.E.D. Preferred experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills a plus. 2-3 years’ experience with the City’s infrastructure including all the collections pumps and lift stations as well as the PLC components and associated hardware and variable frequency drive units. Knowledge of standard practices, methods and materials used in the instrumentation, mechanical and electrical trades is also required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Education and/or Experience: Advanced trouble shooting skills and advanced technical troubleshooting and repairs on City electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment, which may include but not be limited to PLC components, electrical control panels, motor control centers, various instrumentation, various pumps and other mechanical equipment, automatic valves, computer integrated instrumentation, and all other related wastewater equipment including grinder pump stations, vacuum pump stations, and all associated equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memoranda. Ability to read schematics and ladder logic diagrams. Ability to write professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with concrete and abstract variables.
Other Skills and Abilities: Possess or the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license.
