Responsibilities include tracking open corrective actions, reviewing technical documents, and producing regulatory reports.

Qualifications

• BS degree in an engineering or science field; 8 years environmental experience or 12 years in lieu of a degree.
• Experience interpreting environmental requirements; reviewing technical documents for environmental impacts.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interface with regulatory agencies; working knowledge of MS Office.

Job description

The WTCC Environmental Requirements Specialist assists in managing environmental requirements and partnering with other organizations for effective implementation. This role supports regulatory inspections at the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) within the Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste configuration, aiding the Environmental Inspection Coordinator with document retrieval, scheduling, and inspection activities.

Key responsibilities include managing and tracking open condition reports (CRs), actions, and due dates, as well as attending CAMP meetings as needed. The specialist conducts reviews of technical project documents to ensure alignment with environmental requirements, collaborates with document contacts to resolve conflicts, and develops regulatory reports and official written communications for transmittal. Additionally, the specialist generates and updates WTCC Environmental procedures and program documents as assigned.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control,

and supervision of WTCC

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or science field from an accredited university and eight (8) years of environmental-related experience or twelve (12) years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Other Experience:

• Good working knowledge of Washington state and federal environmental regulations.
• Experience interpreting environmental requirements
• Experience reviewing technical documents for environmental impacts
• Ability to interface with regulatory agencies for inspections or other formal visits
• Strong oral and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
• Accountable for completion of scheduled and emerging work assignments on time.
• Working knowledge of standard Microsoft computer applications.
• Prior practical work experience in field environments (e.g., construction execution and/or operating facilities) performing the responsibilities above.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in the nuclear industry for commercial and/or DOE projects.
• Experience with state and federal dangerous waste and department of transportation requirements.
• Experience supporting facility operational activities and environmental integration.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

• Assist with the management of environmental requirements within the LAW-RAEV requirement area, maintain requirements within the DOORs system, partner with other organizations for requirement implementation.
• Participate in regulatory inspections at the WTP facility within the Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste configuration; assist Environmental Inspection Coordinator with document retrieval, scheduling, and other inspection activities.
• Manage and track open condition reports (CRs), actions and due dates; attend CAMP meetings, as needed.
• Conduct reviews of technical project documents to ensure alignment with environmental requirements; partner with document contacts to ensure appropriate resolution when conflicts arise.
• Develop regulatory reports and official written communication for transmittal, as assigned.
• Generate and/or update WTCC Environmental procedures and program documents, as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

• This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentumvisa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

Compensation Details:

$115,543.99 - $182,530.01
