Job summary

Guardian Rail is seeking a Railroad Inspector to evaluate and estimate repairs for railcar fleets. You will inspect incoming cars, prepare detailed paperwork with labor and material estimates, and ensure proper coding for billing.

Interaction with railroads, lessees, inspectors, and marketing groups will expedite the repair process. The role emphasizes adherence to FRA and AAR rules, knowledge of NDT processes, and proficiency with AS400 and MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years railroad repair experience preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of inspection procedures, railcar construction, FRA and AAR rules and regulations.
• Experience with NDT processes.
• Familiarity with AS400, Microsoft Office and customer systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and research incoming cars for defects and repairs required according to regulations and customer specs.
• Prepare and complete paperwork with labor and material estimates and proper Coding.
• Identify repairs and assign responsibility per company policies and pricing matrices.
• Interface daily with railroads, lessees, inspectors, and marketing groups to expedite repairs.
• Support quality, Environmental Safety and Health initiatives.

Summary DescriptionThis position is responsible for the inspection, researching, evaluation, and estimation of repairs in addition to the proper coding of and preparation of billing repair card estimates & documentation required to maintain company, lessee, and customer fleets.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch & inspects incoming cars for defects and/or repairs required in accordance with governing regulations, repair standards, project letters, and customer specifications.Prepares and completes all paperwork required in conjunction with the write-up of needed repairs ensuring labor and material estimates and proper coding of same.Identifies repairs and assigns responsibility in accordance with Guardian Rail's policies and pricing matrices to ensure estimate correctness, consistency, and profitability.Interfaces daily with railroads, lessees, outside inspectors, and various marketing groups regarding inspection findings to expedite the repair process.Participates in and actively supports quality projects and activities and Environmental Safety and Health initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.QualificationsThis position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.Three (3) years of railroad repair experience preferred.Detailed knowledge of inspection procedures, railcar construction, and FRA and AAR rules and regulations.Experience with NDT processes.Additional training in inspection processes will be required.Familiarity with AS400, Microsoft Office, and various customer systems.
