Job summary

The School District of Lee County is seeking a Wrestling Head Coach (Boys) for East Lee County High in Lehigh Acres, FL. The role focuses on planning practices, developing strategies, teaching wrestling fundamentals, and supervising student-athletes during events.

You will monitor academic progress, promote sportsmanship, and collaborate with school staff and the athletic director to manage scheduling, budgets, and facilities. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school or competitive youth coaching experience.
• Florida teaching certificate or DOE coaching certificate.
• FHSAA certification.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions.
• Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.

• Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
• Valid FHSAA certification.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level.
• Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture.
• Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the sport’s rules, techniques, and safety practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed.
