Qualifications
- Professional expertise in the sport being coached
- Current CPR/AED certification prior to first scheduled practice of the season
- Responsible professional behavior
- Knowledge of game rules and league regulations
- Demonstrated skills in youth leadership
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people
- Participation in Coaches Certification Program
Responsibilities
- Coach’s individual participation in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved
- Plan and schedule a regular program of practices throughout the season.
- Encourage academic success in the classroom by maintaining student eligibility records
- Work closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
- Plan and conduct tryouts for sport being coached
- Maintain necessary paperwork (attendance forms, tryout records, insurance forms, student physicals, etc.)
- Enforce discipline and sportsman-like behavior at all times
- Oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
- Oversee the safety conditions of the facility & equipment on assigned sport
- Participate in professional growth activities as scheduled
- Assist Athletic Director in the planning and supervision of an annual recognition program for school athletes
- If necessary, submit all media requests to Sandy Zalewski, (Director of Communication and Development) for publication; do not submit articles or interviews directly to media groups
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
