What You'll Do

• Provide follow-up and interventions to patients diagnosed with ostomies, draining wounds, fistulae, or skin breakdown.
• Counsel individuals anticipating surgery that may result in the creation of a stoma.
• Provide individualized instruction for patients with an abdominal stoma for stool or urine diversion.
• Assess and make treatment recommendations for skin breakdown conditions.
• Assist patients through the continuum of care for management of related issues.
• Evaluate new and currently used products for ostomy, continence, and wound care.
• Make recommendations to patients for obtaining related products.
• Assess individual patient needs and goals.
• Provide educational programs on ostomy/wound care management and self-care education.
• Conduct continuing educational programs for physicians and nursing personnel.
