Job summary

Regency, A Villa Center is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to join their team within Villa Healthcare facilities. The role focuses on wound, ostomy, and continence care, delivering routine nursing services per care plans and physician orders.

You will support 24/7 nursing coverage, document care, and ensure infection control and regulatory compliance while coordinating with families, physicians, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.
  • 1 year of experience preferred in long-term care.
  • CPR and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Care for residents with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders.
  • Provide routine daily nursing care per assessments and care plans.
  • Document notes and resident responses to care.
  • Maintain infection prevention standards and update practices as needed.
  • Assist with 24/7 nursing services and coordinate with physicians.
  • Communicate with residents, families, and facility staff per policy.
  • Monitor non-licensed ancillary services to meet standards.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and company policies.

Job description

Regency, A Villa Center is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to join their team! As a Wound Care Nurse RN, you will have the distinctive role that specializes in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders. You will also provide each resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan and as may be directed by management.

Wound Care Nurse RN Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores.
  • Evaluates and provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation.
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
  • Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
  • Assists with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
  • Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations
  • Provides required resident assessments/observations and interventions, reviewing care plans to ensure appropriate care.
  • Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care.
  • Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care
  • Communicate/report information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines.
  • Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA compliance.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
Wound Care Nurse RN Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification. Recognized organizations include the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Serves as the expert in Wound Care.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
Wound Care Nurse RN Education and Experience:
  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
