The ideal candidate holds a Mississippi RN license, with long-term care experience, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to document progress and communicate with staff, Residents, and families.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in good standing (Mississippi).
  • Prefer experience in Long-Term Care Nursing with knowledge of nursing techniques and medical practices.
  • Must have good planning and organization skills and pass drug screens and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and updates Resident care plans with wound progress.
  • Assumes Charge Nurse duties as needed on the unit.
  • Provides treatment to Residents per Physicians’ Orders.
  • Monitors and treats skin problems and notifies DON of changes.
  • Assesses decubitus and records wound observations weekly.
  • Communicates changes in condition to RN Supervisor and physicians.
  • Notifies physicians and families as needed.
  • Charts progress and observations weekly.
  • Schedules treatments to suit Residents’ availability.
  • Orders treatment supplies per Bedford wound care protocol.
  • Oversees Nursing staff and provides in-service training.
  • Gives reports to Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Maintains communication with coworkers to meet Residents’ needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinates, oversees and provides daily quality treatment and care of Residents according to Physicians’ Orders; primarily responsible for prevention and treatment of skin breakdown and pressure ulcers; must exhibit sincere interest to work with elderly and be able to develop and sustain the cooperation of others; must communicate courteously with Employees, Residents and others

QUALIFICATIONS:

RN License in good standing in the State of Mississippi; prefer experience in Long-Term Care Nursing with comprehensive knowledge of Nursing techniques and their relation to medical practices, skills and application, with thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Long-Term Care; must have good planning and organization skills; must pass drug screens and have a satisfactory Criminal History Background Check

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and updates Resident’s Care Plan with progress or decline of wounds and/or Pressure Ulcers

  • Assumes position of Charge Nurse on unit as needed or requested

  • Provides treatment to Residents according to Physicians’ Orders

  • Monitors and treats Residents’ skin problems; notifies DON of any increase in skin problems

  • Assesses Residents’ Decubitus (pressure ulcers); records observations and stage of wounds weekly, or sooner as needed

  • Provides information regarding all Residents to RN Supervisor regarding any changes in condition and care

  • Notifies Physician if new Orders are indicated or needed; notifies Physician and family as needed

  • Charts information at least weekly regarding progress and observations of wounds and Pressure Ulcers

  • Schedules treatments at times convenient for the Resident

  • Orders treatment supplies from the Pharmacy and Central Supply following Bedford Wound Care Protocol

  • Observes, monitors and provides instructions for Nursing Staff and Nurse Aides

  • Provides in-service training programs as requested

  • Provides reports requested by Director of Nursing or Administrator

  • Communicates with co-workers at all levels to adequately meet the needs of the Residents

  • Ensures that bedridden patients are turned at least every two hours

  • Looks for and reports pressure areas to prevent the development of decubitus and provides skin care

  • Assists during Admission identifying Residents at risk of developing skin problems or decline in condition

  • Maintains excellent attendance unless valid conditions exist; promptly notifies DON or designee of impending absence or tardiness according to Company Policy

  • Although the usual hours of this position are daytime work, Employee may be assigned to work any schedule, shift, unit, duties, other positions, Holidays, weekends, extra hours, and/or at another facility
