Job summary

Villa Healthcare is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to deliver daily nursing care per resident plans within a long‑term care facility. You will lead nursing assistants, manage wound care protocols, and coordinate with the care team to maintain high-quality patient outcomes.

The role requires an active RN license, CPR certification, and 1 year of experience in long‑term care. Excellent communication and infection control knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services per resident assessments and care plans.
  • Direct day-to-day functions of nursing assistants according to regulations.
  • Evaluate skin integrity and prevent decubitus ulcers.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician.
  • Transcribe physician orders to resident charts and MAR.
  • Document care provided and resident responses.
  • Participate in in-service education and orientation for staff.
  • Follow infection control standards and adapt to changes in practice.

Job description

Villa At the Park is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to join their team! The Wound Care Nurse RN provides each resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan and as may be directed by management. The distinctive role of a Wound Care Nurse RN specializes in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders.

Wound Care Nurse RN Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with patients who have alteration in skin integrity.
  • Directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
  • Evaluates the skin surface of at-risk patients such as bed ridden elderly individuals to prevent decubitus ulcers.
  • Provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation.
  • Cooperates with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident’s total regimen of care is maintained.
  • Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
  • Develops and participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes for newly assigned personnel.
  • Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
  • Receives and transcribes physician’s orders to resident’s charts, Kardex/Care Medication Administration Record (“MAR”), treatment/care plans, as required.
  • Prepares and administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by the physician.
  • Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care.
  • Completes the required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
  • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of shift as required.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
Wound Care Nurse RNSkills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Serves as the expert in Wound Care.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Wound Care Nurse RN Education and Experience:
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
