Job summary

First Baptist Church, Scottsboro, Alabama, is seeking a Worship Pastor to plan and lead Christ-centered worship in a part-time capacity. You will work closely with the Senior Pastor to shape worship that complements the sermon and church mission.

The role requires musical leadership, ability to recruit and develop volunteers, and skill with AV tech. Hours are determined by church needs and ministry priorities.

Qualifications

• Committed follower of Jesus Christ with heart for ministry.
• Agrees with Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• Experience in worship leadership preferred.
• Proficient in vocal and instrumental music; able to lead worship with guitar/keyboard.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to recruit, encourage, and develop musicians, vocalists, volunteers.
• Experience with worship planning software and AV technology preferred.
• Able to collaborate with Senior Pastor, staff, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate worship services in alignment with sermon themes and church vision.
• Select songs and elements suitable for each service.
• Lead regular worship rehearsals; prepare musicians, vocalists, choir, and tech volunteers.
• Recruit, train, and oversee worship team members including vocalists and instrumentalists.
• Incorporate a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles as appropriate.
• Coordinate multimedia and other worship elements to support services.
• Oversee care of instruments and worship-related resources.
• Work with Senior Pastor to strengthen and develop the worship ministry.
• Attend staff meetings and church events as requested.

Worship Pastor

Position Title: Worship Pastor

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Status: Part-Time

Location: First Baptist Church, Scottsboro, Alabama

Denomination: Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)

Hours: Hours and weekly schedule will be determined by the Senior Pastor at the time of hiring based on the needs of the church and worship ministry.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Overview

The Worship Pastor is responsible for planning and leading Christ-centered worship at First Baptist Church. This position works closely with the Senior Pastor to create worship services that support the message, mission, and vision of the church. The Worship Pastor should have a heart for ministry, a passion for leading others in worship, and the musical and leadership abilities necessary to develop and lead an effective worship ministry.

Primary Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

• Plan, coordinate, and lead worship services in cooperation with the Senior Pastor, ensuring alignment with sermon themes and the overall vision of the church.
• Select songs and other worship elements appropriate for the congregation and the direction of each service.
• Lead regular worship rehearsals and ensure musicians, vocalists, choir and technical volunteers are prepared for services.
• Recruit, train, encourage, and oversee worship team members, including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical volunteers.
• Incorporate a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles appropriate for the congregation.
• Coordinate multimedia and other worship elements as needed to support the worship service.
• Oversee the organization and care of musical instruments, equipment, and worship-related resources.
• Work with the Senior Pastor to continually strengthen and develop the worship ministry.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend staff meetings and church-wide events as requested by the Senior Pastor.
• Assist with special worship services, including holidays, revivals, funerals, and other church events as needed.
• Assist in developing and managing the worship ministry budget.
• Ensure worship ministry volunteers follow church policies and procedures.
• Perform other worship-related duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
