Job summary

Seaside Baptist Church in Galveston, TX, seeks a Worship Pastor to provide spiritual and musical leadership for worship services, uniting the congregation through prayer, Scripture, and multimedia.

You will recruit and shepherd volunteers, plan weekly themes with the Senior Pastor, oversee music ministry, collaborate with Production Team, and develop worship experiences that advance the church's mission.

Qualifications

• Born- again believer with a personal, ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• Strong musical training; ordination preferred.
• Proven ability to lead worship instrumentally (piano or guitar) and vocally.
• Excellent communication, relational, and interpersonal skills for ministering to adults, students, and children.
• Self-motivated, teachable, and a strong team player who involves others in planning and decision-making.
• Administrative and organizational skills sufficient to manage ministry systems and volunteers.
• Willingness to submit to a thorough background check (criminal - local, state, federal - and personal references)

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to Music Ministry participants and others in the congregation (hospital visits, phone calls, personal visits, etc.)
• Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor and staff to plan service themes and elements; coordinate the Music Ministry with the overall church calendar and emphases
• Be available to counsel, arrange music for, and participate in special services and events (funerals, weddings, etc.) in cooperation with appropriate parties
• Plan, coordinate, and lead Sunday morning and special worship services; oversee all music ministry support volunteers
• Foster a culture of cooperation and excellence across the Worship Arts Ministry
• Select, arrange, and prepare songs, Scripture, calls to worship, prayers, and relevant media for the choir and worship teams (band and vocalists) each week
• Coordinate training and deployment of instrumentalists and vocalists (groups and individuals)
• Prepare all materials for the worship team and instrumentalists, including sheet music and rehearsal tracks as needed
• Use Planning Center Online (PCO) for planning and scheduling; upload all digital files in a timely manner
• Create and manage service presentations in ProPresenter
• Be proficient in the church's technology ecosystem and any future technology additions
• Lead weekly rehearsals with the worship team band and vocalists; coordinate performance schedules for music groups and individuals
• Collaborate with the Production Team on equipment setup for rehearsals and services; partner on long-term planning for large-scale productions

Job description

Position Summary

The Worship Pastor provides spiritual and musical leadership for Seaside Baptist Church's worship services. Through music, prayer, Scripture, multimedia, and creative elements, this role helps the congregation and community experience the love of Christ and grow in faith.

The Worship Pastor works with adult volunteers to advance the goals of the Music Ministry and the church's mission: "To be a hub of gospel restoration to people, families, communities, and the nations."

This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and collaborates closely with the entire staff.

Qualifications

• Born- again believer with a personal, ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
• Consistent personal prayer life and daily quiet time
• Full agreement with the doctrines of Scripture as expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 of the Southern Baptist Convention
• Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and ministry priorities of Seaside Baptist Church
• Strong musical training; ordination preferred
• Proven ability to lead worship instrumentally (piano or guitar) and vocally
• Excellent communication, relational, and interpersonal skills for ministering to adults, students, and children

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities may be carried out directly or through trained volunteers. Recruiting, equipping, organizing, and shepherding volunteers is a core part of the role. All staff are expected to maintain a flexible, "can-do" spirit and assist with duties outside their primary job description as needed.

Pastoral

• Select, arrange, and prepare songs, Scripture, calls to worship, prayers, and relevant media for the choir and worship teams (band and vocalists) each week
• Coordinate training and deployment of instrumentalists and vocalists (groups and individuals)
• Prepare all materials for the worship team and instrumentalists, including sheet music and rehearsal tracks as needed
• Use Planning Center Online (PCO) for planning and scheduling; upload all digital files in a timely manner (PDFs of scores/orchestrations/anthems, MP3s, MultiTracks, etc.)
• Create and manage service presentations in ProPresenter (new songs, arrangements, announcements, library organization)
• Be proficient in (or willing to learn) the church's technology ecosystem (currently MacOS and iPhone/iPad iOS) and any future technology additions
• Lead weekly rehearsals with the worship team band and vocalists; coordinate performance schedules for music groups and individuals
• Collaborate with the Production Team on equipment setup for rehearsals and services; partner on long-term planning for large-scale productions

Administrative

• Work with the Music Team to set ministry goals and determine organization, leadership, facilities, finances, and administrative processes
• Participate in preparation of the annual church budget for areas under this position's supervision and ensure expenditures remain within budget
