Job summary

Chantilly Bible Church in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Worship Pastor to plan, facilitate and lead our CBC worship arts ministry, focusing on the Sunday Morning Service music, service planning and AV aspects of worship. This role will serve as the visible leader of our worship teams, delivering a Christ-centered, excellent and engaging musical worship experience for the church.

Based on gifting, the Worship Pastor will also serve as Director of the Connection and Care or Outreach and Service

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred in Bible or Worship Arts; seminary is encouraged.
• Heart and passion for Worship Arts with sound doctrinal approach.
• Gift in music and leading worship bands in modern and historic styles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Sunday Service worship with Lead Pastor and Teaching Team.
• Plan and oversee Sunday service planning, including song arrangements and volunteer scheduling.
• Facilitate mid-week worship rehearsal and Sunday morning worship elements.
• Lead musical worship at all-church events and rotate as Pastor of the Week.
• Oversee one Ministry Area: Connection and Care or Outreach and Service.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Job description

The Worship Pastor position is a key role in planning, facilitating and leading our CBC worship arts ministry with a concentration on the Sunday Morning Service music, service planning and AV aspects of worship. This role will serve as the key, visible leader of our worship teams with the goal of providing a Christ-centered, excellent, and engaging musical worship service experience. Based on his gifting and experience, the Worship Pastor will also serve as the Director of the Connection and Care or Outreach and Service Ministry Area.

ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENTS

1. Weekly Staff and Teaching Team Meetings and Prayer: 5 hours

2. Planning and Preparation: 3-4 hours

3. Mid-week Rehearsal: 3-4 hours

4. Sunday Morning: 5 hours

5. The remainer of the time will be dedicated to leadership of the other determined Ministry Area.

To fulfill the responsibilities and duties outlined below, it is expected that this position will require an average of 40-45 hours per week. There will be certain seasons of ministry that will require additional hours of planning and ministry due to seasonal schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Coordinating Sunday Service worship experience with Lead Pastor and Teaching Team, including song selection and other service elements for the congregational Sunday worship experience

• Coordinating and facilitating Sunday service planning including:

  • Organizing and overseeing volunteer scheduling software (currently Planning Center) to be accurate and updated

  • Selecting and preparing song arrangements

  • Recruiting musicians, vocalists and Tech Team to serve

  • Facilitating Sunday morning musical and AV worship elements (pre-service rehearsal and worship in service)

  • Incorporating multi-language worship (English, Chinese and Spanish) to support CBC’s multi-cultural ministry focus

  • Coordinating and facilitating mid-week worship rehearsal

• Leading musical worship elements of other all-church events

• Serve in rotation as Pastor of the Week

• Leadership of one of these two Ministry Areas:

  • Connection and Care - To come alongside to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our CBC congregation and to provide opportunities to build relationships and strengthen the unity of our church family. Includes ministries like:

    • Welcome Team

    • Fellowship Ministry Deacons

  • Outreach and Service - Reaching out to the lost in local and global communities with the gospel and seeking to address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Includes ministries like:

    • Missions

    • Conversational English Classes

    • Clothes to You (annual event to provide clothes to neighbors)

• Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Exhibits godly character outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 as they lead and guide the community of believers that God has entrusted to them

2. Undergraduate degree – preferred: a. Degree in Bible or Worship Arts related area b. Seminary degree or desire to pursue one

3. Has a heart and passion for Worship Arts

4. Has a demonstrated and mature understanding of theology, Bible, and doctrinally sound worship ministry philosophy in alignment with CBC doctrine and ministry philosophy

5. Has a demonstrated gift in music and leading and developing excellent worship bands in both modern and historic worship music

6. Comfortable facilitating multi-cultural worship with music in multiple languages

7. Possesses ability to lead small and large groups in congregational music

8. Has an understanding of the technical elements of leading worship including audio visual, instrumentation, lighting and other audio equipment

9. Possesses strong organizational and administrative skills

10. Possesses ability to build and lead teams and is a team player who is humble and willing to learn

11. Physical ability to do tasks associated with the position (for example, the ability to lift and move 40lbs (like a speaker) or to lift, move and set up tables and chairs)
