Responsibilities

• Direct the planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating of the church music program.
• Supervise and train volunteers and paid staff.

• Plan special music for events such as funerals or special services.
• Maintain music library and equipment inventory.
• Adhere to copyright policies and budgeting processes.
• Hold weekly practices and attend all services requiring music performances.

Job description

Purpose: To plan, conduct, perform and engage people in the worship service through music and activities that create an environment that helps leads people to worship God.

Accountability: Senior Pastor, Personnel Committee, and the Church Council

Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1.Personal
  • a.Maintain a deep, personal relationship with God, giving time to personal care through regular participation in Christian worship, scheduled days off, and vacation.
  • b.Maintain a high level of professional and personal ethics.
• 2.Professional
  • a.Participate in periodic training opportunities for professional and personal development as provided by the church.
  • b.Attend weekly staff meetings and communicate necessary church business.
  • c.Attend weekly pastoral care individual meetings.
• 3.Technical Duties
  • a.Direct the planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating of the church music program, including praise teams and other vocal and instrumental groups.
  • b.Supervise and train volunteers and paid staff.
  • c.Coordinate with the production team.
  • d.Coordinate the music and worship program with the church calendar and special events.
  • e.Assist the Senior Pastor in planning the material.
  • f.Create slides for the weekly worship service.
  • g.Prepare worship program and materials.
  • h.Assist in planning special music for events if requested such as funerals or special events.
  • i.Maintain a music library and care of equipment and keep a current equipment inventory.
  • j.Adhere to rules of copyright policies.
  • k.Develop and administer an annual budget in accordance with the church budgeting process
  • l.Hold weekly practices for services.
  • m.Attend all services requiring music performances.
  • n.Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
  • o.Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

4.Qualifications: To be determined by the Church Council and Personnel Committee in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and in conversation with the church membership. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop a strong team environment.They must also be able to lead the team in creative and meaningful worship experiences for the congregation. Items considered may include background, education, pastoral experience, personality, leadership style, etc.
