Job Description

The Workshop Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, refurbishment, and readiness activities on subsea and surface equipment systems, as well as associated tooling packages, within the Morgan City workshop. This is a Morgan City, Louisiana onshore U.S. based position, which may include work at designated geographic areas as needed. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, mobilization, demobilization, periodic inspections, in‑storage servicing, and refurbishment of company‑owned equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company operating and maintenance standards, as well as current regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately update equipment maintenance systems with records of all repairs, inspections, and service activities.
  • Assist in the preparation, testing, and mobilization of ROV systems and associated tooling packages.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and contribute to safety discussions within the workshop team.
  • Engage in the company’s observation program and routinely conduct STOP audits.
  • Attend required safety training sessions and actively support safety initiatives.
  • Follow all established procedures and ensure tasks are completed using correct and approved methods.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and company HSE requirements before and during operations.
  • Apply Oceaneering risk assessment processes, including JSEA, to all tasks.
  • Support QHSE initiatives, including continuous improvement efforts and performance monitoring.
  • Promote and practice 5S and Lean principles within the workshop environment.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
  • Participate in the company competence program to progress within the established career framework.
  • Travel internationally, when required, to provide on‑site technical support.
  • Attend project kick‑off meetings, when needed, to provide technical expertise.
  • Ensure Safety policies and procedures are clearly understood and followed to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to operate standard software tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical or Associate degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Hydraulic Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in hydraulics, mechanics, mechatronics, communications/computer networking, subsea tooling, or control systems.
  • Working knowledge of subsea and surface equipment, including ROV systems, IWOCS, Workover Systems, and tooling packages.
  • Familiarity with subsea controls and operations.
  • Knowledge of manifold, umbilical, and subsea XT installation operations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of 5S and Lean principles; 5S Champion certification (or equivalent continuous improvement credential).
  • Valid Forklift Truck certification.
  • Valid Overhead Crane certification.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
