NMS Recruit is seeking an experienced Workshop Machinist for a hydraulic engineering environment in Braintree, MA. The role blends manual machining, component refurbishment and hydraulic repairs with organising the shop’s day-to-day workload.

You’ll influence workshop operations, improve processes and help the department grow while ensuring safety and quality in every job from inspection to completion.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes and general workshop equipment.
• Welding experience and understanding of workshop practices.
• Ability to assess faults, dismantle components and complete accurate repairs.
• Strong problem-solving and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Inspect worn components and machine parts, refurbish and test repairs.
• Diagnose faults and repair hydraulic rams, cylinders and related components.
• Operate manual lathes, pillar drills and band saws; weld as required.
• Plan and prioritise workshop jobs to maintain throughput and quality.
• Communicate with customers to understand requirements and prepare quotations.
• Order parts, manage stock and coordinate outsourced work when needed.
• Maintain a safe, tidy and well-organised workshop and report hazards.
