When you join Appian, you’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to accomplishing hard things, together. The Appian Workplace Operations team acts as the vital physical and cultural backbone of our organization, creating collaborative and high-functioning corporate environments. As Appian expands its market leadership in Enterprise-Grade Orchestration, our team ensures that headquarters operations, employee hospitality, and internal communications scale seamlessly to optimize enterprise productivity. Appian was built on a culture of vibrant, in-person collaboration, which we believe is a foundational driver of our mission to be the best. This role offers an incredible, multi-faceted opportunity to serve as the critical "glue" at our McLean HQ, bridging the gap between facility operations, high-level administrative support, and corporate experience design. Instead of managing static, siloed office checklists, you will have the autonomy to execute impactful workplace events, optimize internal communication channels, and interact directly with executive leadership, clients, and partners. This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to foster that culture and ensure we continue to thrive through shared ideas and teamwork. We believe being in the office provides more opportunities to come together and celebrate working with the exceptional people across Appian.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Execute daily office operations and maintain a flawless, welcoming environment at our McLean headquarters as the primary point of contact for staff and visitors. Manage high-level administrative support and executive assistance tasks, including complex calendar scheduling, corporate travel bookings, and department expense reporting. Design and coordinate internal corporate events, utilizing a design-thinking approach to handle site selection, vendor sourcing, and food and beverage (F&B) logistics. Maintain and update internal department homepages and digital communication artifacts, including newsletters, guides, and FAQs to boost internal protocol adoption. Coordinate with external facility vendors and manage all incoming/outgoing logistics, mail distribution, and office supply tracking. Partner with inter-departmental teams on strategic administrative projects that directly impact broader corporate efficiency and employee onboarding experiences.

  • Core Competencies: Demonstrated capability to operate independently, handle workplace ambiguity, and communicate precisely with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Productivity Suites: Advanced technical proficiency with corporate productivity software, specifically Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience utilizing specialized event management software or corporate travel management platforms.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design-thinking frameworks applied to workplace experience or corporate hospitality workflows.
  • We value experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, as these skills translate well into our Enterprise-Grade Orchestration environment.
