Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Workforce Development Intern to support programs that train, develop, and retain employees across the organization. This on-site role at our ChicagoHQ involves creating tools, dashboards, and documentation to scale programs and drive outcomes.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in IO Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field, with strong project management, data, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field such as IO Psychology, Org Leadership, or Workforce Development.
• Demonstrates interest in workforce development, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
• Experience leading projects or coordinating events is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze workforce development, apprenticeship, internship, and talent programs to identify improvement opportunities.
• Create tools, resources, and frameworks to scale employee development experiences.
• Partner with HR, Operations, and leaders to align talent needs with development solutions.
• Plan and execute projects by tracking milestones and coordinating stakeholders.
• Develop dashboards, scorecards, and reports to measure program participation and effectiveness.
• Research industry best practices to inform program strategy and improvements.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Assist with planning and coordinating Workforce Development events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This is an on-site role located at our Chicago, IL HQ. The official Zekelman internship program runs from May 24, 2027, through August 13, 2027. This is not a traditional administrative HR internship. Working alongside our passionate Workforce Development team, you'll play a key role supporting our programs that help to train, develop, and retain employees across the organization. You'll help create tools, processes, and documentation that make it easier for programs and participants to succeed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, creating structure, managing complex projects, and creating practical solutions that have a lasting impact.
