Job summary

Job description

The Workforce Development Program Coordinator will report to the Manager of Workforce Development and is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing initiatives to improve the skills, recruitment, and retention of our Beacon associates. This includes creating partnerships with healthcare providers, educational institutions, and workforce agencies to design programs that meet the staffing needs of healthcare organizations while supporting career advancement for healthcare professionals. Program Design And Implementation
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Workforce Development and key stakeholders to cultivate, implement, and evaluate workforce development programs focused on enhancing healthcare professionals' skills and preparing new entrants to the healthcare field.
  • Oversee the administration of assigned healthcare workforce initiatives, ensuring programs are aligned with organizational goals and healthcare industry standards.
Partnership Development
  • Establish and maintain relationships with organizational and community partners, including hospitals, clinics, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with partners to identify current and future workforce needs in the healthcare sector, ensuring training and workforce development programs are responsive.
  • Coordinate with primary education providers, universities, community colleges, and training organizations to create pathways for students into healthcare careers.
Recruitment And Retention
  • Assist in the recruitment of healthcare workers, particularly for in-demand positions, by facilitating field trips, job shadows, job fairs, recruitment events, and targeted outreach campaigns.
  • Support retention efforts by helping healthcare workers advance their careers, offering resources like mentorship, continuing education opportunities, and leadership development.
Training And Certification
  • Coordinate continuing education and training opportunities for current healthcare professionals to improve their skills, certifications, and knowledge.
  • Ensure that training programs meet accreditation standards and are aligned with best practices in healthcare education.
  • Develop or facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as patient care, medical technologies, healthcare management, and cultural competency.
Data Collection And Reporting
  • Collect and analyze data on program outcomes, such as job placements, career progression, and employee satisfaction.
  • Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, including funders, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Use data to refine and improve program effectiveness, ensuring healthcare workforce needs are met.
Grant Writing And Funding
  • Assist in identifying funding opportunities for workforce development programs, including government grants, corporate sponsorships, and private foundations.
Policy And Compliance
  • Stay current with healthcare workforce policies, labor regulations, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure that workforce development programs comply with federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations.
Community Outreach
  • Promote healthcare career opportunities to diverse communities, including underrepresented and underserved populations.
  • Organize informational sessions, career exploration events, and outreach activities to increase awareness of healthcare job opportunities.
Essential Duties Include
  • Administrative oversight, including data collection and analysis, for career development programs such as: Beacon Pathways, Beacon Scholars, Beacon Administrative Fellowship.
  • Providing support to Beacon Administrative Fellows; selection, orientation/training, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with preceptors, leaders, and providers to manage student experiences and recruitment, ensuring opportunities are inclusive and accessible to all.
  • Coordinate student rotation and internship placements, ensuring compliance with DEIB principles and fostering a culture of belonging.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with educational institutions and healthcare training programs, promoting diversity and equity in talent pipelines.
  • Represent Beacon at job fairs, community events, and recruitment-related activities, championing DEIB initiatives.
  • Lead, direct, and implement strategic workforce development efforts to grow and retain talent while advancing DEIB objectives.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
  • Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Organizational Responsibilities
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, or a related field is required. Must have 3+ years of experience in workforce development, human resources, healthcare administration, or a related field. Experience working with healthcare providers, educational institutions, or workforce development agencies and familiarity with healthcare certification programs and continuing education requirements.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, administrators, and community partners.
  • Ability to analyze workforce data and trends to guide program improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant data management systems.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare labor market, workforce challenges, and best practices in healthcare education and training.
Working Conditions
  • Full-time, typically in an office setting with occasional fieldwork.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special events or programs.
  • Travel may be required for community outreach and partnership meetings.
