Qualifications

Job description

  • Supervise multiple teams of disability claims examiners and technical staff
  • Monitor colleagues’ workloads and individual claim activities
  • Provide training and technical/jurisdictional direction on claims adjudication reports
  • Identify trends, problems, and issues and advise management on recommended actions
  • Inform management of procedures and continuous process improvement ideas
  • Coordinate office projects with management
  • Compile, review, and analyze management reports and take appropriate action
  • Perform quality reviews on claims
  • Act as second-level appeal for client and claimant issues and implement final dispositions
  • Review reserve amounts on high-cost and over-authority claims
  • Monitor third-party, litigated, serious vocational rehabilitation, questionable, and sensitive claims
  • Maintain client contact, make claim-status recommendations, and provide written claim resumes
  • Ensure direct reports are properly licensed and claims files are correctly coded and documented
  • Administer personnel policies, interview and hire colleagues, establish development plans, conduct performance discussions, and provide leadership and motivation
  • Support the organization’s quality programs and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
  • Six (6) years of claims experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Two (2) years of claims supervisory experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Licenses as required
  • Professional certifications as applicable to line of business preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of disability claims management procedures and processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products
  • Leadership, management, and motivational skills
  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must live near one of Sedgwick’s centers of excellence: Dublin, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Irving, TX; Memphis, TN; or Orlando, FL
  • Travel as required
